Dear Life,
Thanks a lot.
Thanks for computer crashes and plane crashes,
for dirty feet and dirty minds, for cold weather and
cold mothers. Thanks for protein bars that taste like s--t.
But thanks as well for small talk with strangers in the
Express lane at Ralph’s, thank you for pomegranate
chapstick and cherry sarcasm. Thanks for being
a dime short of my favorite brand of chips at the
vending machine, thanks for loud chewers.
Thank you for obnoxious relatives who ask where
you’re going to college or what career you’ve picked
when all you want to do is lie in bed and watch
reruns of “Full House” and “I Love Lucy.” Thanks for
the last seat free on the subway. Thanks for cheap
knockoffs of designer jeans. But most of all, Life,
thank you for the 1:1 ratio of real thanks and no thanks.
Thanks a lot.

This one is very positive. someimes it helps to read something that brings you back to earth instead of drawing you away from it. This is one of those things. It makes me Say thanks for what life has trown at me just like you did.

rarely do people capture how cynical teenagers are without making them sound overly dramatic or fake. you've done a really good job expressing the perfect amount of attitude with this poem!

This poem was a perfect balance. You had sarcasm, but not enough to drown in it and it was unique, but not so weird it didn't make sense to the rest of us. Great poem :)

"They say 'Life's two steps forward and one step back' - But what if I tripped and fell down the whole flight of stairs?"

But it's it depressing that as many time as you feel happy, you feel sad? I mean, in reality that's probably average- considering that some people have very fufilling, beautiful lives, while others have short, terrible lives. I loved your piece though. Very nice. Maybe you could check out my work? I'd really appreciate your time.

Hm... I really like the idea behind it, think it's really fabulous, in fact. I also love the sarcasm in it and that, in some cases, you can't even tell right off the bat if you're being serious or not.

I understand what you meant with your ending (the one-to-one ratio, that is), but I'm not sure it flowed well. It didn't really have the finality that you expect at the end of a piece like this. I'm not sure what it was about that last sentence. I can't figure it out. It just didn't sound like it worked with the rest of the piece.

Just my opinion, of course. The last decision always lies with the author, but those are my two cents. Anyway, even if it doesn't sound like it, I definitely liked this piece -- a lot! Something to be proud of. :)

i really like this beacuse its free and raw. and true in every way. i can relate that life has its ups and downs but at the end of it all they equal out so you cant say it was bad or good. it simply happened.
