"And then is heard no more: it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing."
Shakespeare

Lie is such a short word,
Three letters at the most.
Sometimes you don’t even notice
As it flutters by.
Such a pretty little thing,
You discover if it catches your eye.
Golden wings that shimmer in the light.
That drip silver teardrops.

And as it dances towards you
You hold out your hands and wait.
But with a single touch you find
That it shatters and crumbles into
Black dust.

Your vision wavers and you fall to your knees
Gasping for breath through the pain.
The venom spreads from your fingertips,
To sever the bond between you and that one.
For when the butterflies are released,
Your friendship could be done.
