Let Them Be Shown
You tell me it's going to be alright,
That soon these scars won't show
But how can you be sure?
How do I know that what you're saying
Isn't just another empty promise,
That what you feel is real,
That your smile, teardrops and touch
Aren't going to disappear?
How will it be alright?
How will I live another day
With those memories gnawing on my sanity,
Pushing me one step closer to what we both know
Might just be the end;
Nothingness, oblivion, the dark?
But what if it's freedom?
Freedom from what we know,
What we feel,
And what we are?
What if that place is where I'm destined to go?
Would you try to keep me here,
Try to change me like so many others have tried,
But have ultimately failed?
Or would you accept it?
Accept me,
Because why should I be afraid to be me?
Why shouldn't I let these scars be shown?
