I stand there
In the grass
My small sweating hands
Clutching the wilting daisy
I pluck the petals
One by one
"He loves me, he loves me not"
Over and over
"He loves me"
The white petals covering my bare feet
"He loves me not"
I am standing in my front yard
"He loves me"
I can see him in my mind
"He loves me not"
Absolute perfection
"He loves me"
Soft white petals riding the breeze
"He loves me not"
I watch them fly
"He loves me"
They look so free
"He loves me not"
I long to be so free
"He loves me"
I have run out of petals...
