An end in terror is preferable to terror without end - Sophie Scholl

No one ever seemed to know

what really was happening in the land of Germany.

But I knew

and because of that I was standing alone.

No one ever seemed to want to discover

why Jews were killed for silly reasons, like having a living, breathing heart.

But I wanted to

and because of that I was standing alone.

No one ever opened themselves

to the thought of resistance.

But I did

and because of that I was standing alone.

No one ever stood up for the minority

the ones who couldn’t speak for themselves in fear of being kicked to the dirt.

But I stood proud

and I stood alone.

This short, short piece of poetry is told from the view of a resistor, one who believed in equality for the land of Germany.
