We Are All Sand
I wonder if this is what it’s like to be rock
You get stepped on
You get thrown at people
You’re used even when you don’t want to be used
And over time you’re pushed around so often
That you begin to lose parts of yourself
You begin to lose yourself
You become sand
You become something you never were
And you can’t turn back into the thing you once were
The lightest of things begin to move you
I’ve become sand
I’ve lost parts of myself
I’m constantly stepped on by people living a lovely life
The lightest touch moves me
I’m craving to be loved so much
That even people who don’t deserve to be in my life
I’m allowing to be in my life
Because I’m tired of moving on my own
I just want to be moved by the wind
Some may call that being reckless
But
I simply call it being exhausted
It’s okay to be sand
Because when the ocean takes a piece of it
Sometimes it’s placed in an oyster
And it creates a beautiful pearl
When I lose a part of myself
I know someone else will receive it
And
Hopefully
It’ll help them become a pearl
The pearl they deserve to be
So
I’ll just stand here
And wait for another piece of sand
To come to me
So I may become a pearl myself
