The sound of music played like the souls of lovers;

A beat of a million persons so blended together

In a point of harmony.

Though there were many different people

that danced to their own beats

they all moved together as one.

But I noticed that there were two

who danced a different dance

than those around them.

Like the moon and sun of old tales

I watched as they held each other close

Conversing with silence and love.

It was like a single lit candle

in a room of darkness that shone

brigher than the beautiful jewels on Earth.

They were unified in a moment so impossible

it became a miracle.

While I watched

this preciousness of human kind

I felt as if I were intruding

on a scen that should never be seen

by the likes of me.

Me,

a being older than time and light

was low and untouchable

compared to the raw and cherished moments

of a human.

I,

the apalling monster that the darkness spit out

was inferior to these creatures

who surpassed me

with their immaturity.

Slowly,

I pulled a cloak of shadows closer to me

keeping me hidden from the eyes

of those who chose not to see.

I knew,

deep down,

that these echos of the past

had died and left this world

but they lived on through the different song

that lasted through time and space,

to live forever

until darkness ate it as well.

Then

the hope of all normalicy

would be dead and gone,

and, I too,

will become the echo of

an old,

forgotten

time.

One night I was watching the Great Gatsby (original) and I noticed how in this one scene how everyone was having just a wonderful time and you see Gatsby just sitting in his house, watching other people do what it is he always wanted to do.
