A Nightmare

That was the day
I awoke to a nightmare
I cried
I screamed
I begged for help
I kicked and punched and flailed
Never
had anything
felt so real
Nothing helped
I couldn’t do anything
Who hurt me so badly you ask
It was me
I
am my worst enemy
Because in a duel with myself
It is a battle
that will go on
for eternity
That was the day
I awoke from a nightmare
