The boy knows not of hate, but of love-
The love of nurturing that little tree,
He watches it grow-
With every inch, his heart grows a little more-
This little tree has saved a life.

The boy that was once abused,
Took to that field-
Where that little tree stood,
Each day that tree grew on him a little more.

One day, that tree was not so little-
Nor was he a boy,
He was a man-
Every day the man visited the tree,
To thank it for the hope and joy-
That little tree had saved a life.

The author's comments:
This is a story of a boy who was abused and had a terrible childhood, but when this one little tree came into his life he was saved and he felt loved. By caring for the tree he got back a feeling and memories that he could never recreate had he not run off into the field and found this little tree. it inspired hope and joy for the boy.
