It was so much easier—
Just five copper years ago
When life was new and green
Full of lime potential.
It was so much easier—
When I never said indigo-no
I wore pink every day
And played in white snow.

Way back then—
He sat yellow by my side
He was blue calm and silver gentle
He was my red pride.
Way back then—
We played purple games
Or watched cerulean cartoons
And skies were never grey.

As the years flew by—
Shaded days would come and go
We played unfairly maroon
And stopped enjoying white snow.
As the years flew by—
Grey responsibility came
I chose to play violet King
Nothing colorful did I gain.

But today—
I look back and see
How the way I treated him
Has a black effect on me.
But today—
He sits there
With often a red face…
I did it to him
So I will help his grey fade.
