Some of us live without a care
Not worrying of what’s to come
Some of us cannot imagine
The things that some have done

We sit, we think
We have some fun
But we are bound so tight,
That we cannot run

Unexpected things
They will come around
They come up behind you
They don’t make a sound

I am telling you this
For you may not have a clue
Unexpected things
They will happen to you

Like a whispered secret
It travels to you
Like a painting on a canvas
It’s a permanent tattoo

So sit and think
Have your fun
But don’t get bound too tight
You might have to run

Because unexpected things
They happen to everyone

In 8th grade at my school, all students are required to write a memoir, and a poem must be included. I wrote my poem about my time living in London. It was an amazing experience, but the news was very unexpected, and that is what this poem is about.
