I Don't Want A Happily-Ever-After
Fairytales are simply lies,
Impossible fantasies that never come true.
They tell of perfection,
Of Love-at-first-sight, of “fate” and dream-come-trues.
Making life seem unreal,
Like a delicate snowflake,
To touch it, is to destroy it,
Yet destroying it allows one better to be created.
And in knowing this I have decided,
A very important choice must be made
Let the fantasies survive, building up unreal expectations
Never to be fulfilled,
Or break the fantasies and allow something better to be formed?
I chose better, because I know,
I don’t want happily ever after…
I want something Real.
