At first I was careful
Otherwise I’d get an earful
Then I shook
I even shoved it in a nook

I tried to hide the scratches and the scars
I didn’t mean for it to go that far
I bent it till it broke
I thought it was as sturdy as an oak

I was wrong
I wish I could sing it in a song
How bad I feel
How I wish it wasn’t real

Outside it’s raining
Wash away the old it was saying
New life begins
Where the old one ends

I don’t want a new friend to replace
I want you back in that empty space
Our friendship once strong
Is now long gone…
