The Temple of My Dreams
In the center
Of the olive hued swamp,
Lies a temple made of stone,
Eroded away over the years.
Moss grows in the creases
And cracks.
Abandoned and left a mystery.
The temple calls me,
Tempting me to explore,
Even uncover what lies within.
Yet, everytime I get close,
I stop.
Dead in my tracks.
And I turn away.
One time I watched a maiden,
Pale with long dark hair.
She stumbled out of the temple,
Failing to notice me.
She reached the edge of the swamp,
And just like that,
She disappeared.
My dad has offered,
Even my peers have offered,
To travel into the temple with me.
But they can't.
It's impossible.
They don't see the temple,
It doesn't call them.
Eventaully, I will have to be brave,
Risk everything I have.
I have to travel by myself.
The temple wants me,
Maybe as a sacrifice,
Maybe even to save me.
I can't stop in the swamp
Anymore.
