"Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."

A song
Full of melancholy
But also
Of hope
And a new beginning.
Is it fitting?
This song?
Do I have the right
To tell others to be happy
In such a time as this?
Life is Fragile.
Life is Precious.
That is what she said.
Will I disrupt that preciousness?
Will I break that fragility?
Like I so often accidentally do?
I don't know.
I only know

The author's comments:
I wrote this after the Connecticut shooting. The song in question is "Oceanea" by Thomas Dolby (I was listening to it when the idea for this poem came to me), and the two lines "Life is Fragile. Life is Precious" are from a memorial poster for the Connecticut victims which I found. To give credit where credit is due, that poster was made by someone else called Chibird.
