The bite of a crumb
The growl of the insides
Sickness overcome the immune system
Temperature rises
The bones become weak and brittle
An anorexic body

The gulp of a single drop of water
The sounds of a trash can opening
Your pocket lays empty of coins
Smoke rises as restaurants cook
Bit you lay wanting just a crumb

A bite warms the body
A single drink gives a burst of energy
You can hear the cars again
Your heart pumps faster and steadily
Flavor ignites the taste buds
The warm brick helps you to your feet
The world of New York has come back to you
