A Wonderful Aunt
I want to say that I love you,
and you are still a friend to me.
Yet I will never miss you,
because when I sleep on my pillow,
I can always see you.
You gave me that pillow.
Your grandson will always know who you were,
because I will tell him.
You were really kind.
You always said what was on your mind.
You never resisted asking for help.
When our birthday comes around,
I am always going to visit you somehow.
I will tell you happy birthday
And I will miss you.
And if your daughter has a child,
I will always let that child know,
What a good parent you were
What a good godmother you were.
And when I am forty, I will still think of you.
I will tell my children about you.
We will visit you at your gravesite,
and I will tell them:
You were a great grandma.
You were a great aunt.
You were a great godmother.
You were a great mom.
You were a great person.
Love,
John Matello
