The F Word
You can hear it in the hallways
Just bouncing off the walls
That word they say so often
With zero thought at all
And I want to tell them
“You can’t use that word
You don’t know what it means.”
But I don't
Why? Because they won’t listen.
I could explain but they’ll forget.
They’ll go back to using that word again.
Even a word this powerful can lose its meaning over time
But the boys in our towns are keeping it alive.
And every time that word comes out of their mouths
I think to myself, “You can’t use that word.
You see, I’ve claimed it.
That word belongs to me.”
