they say that
a woman has to be
tall and graceful
curvy and soft
in all the right places, with
soft skin and a
quiet manner

i look in the mirror and see
short stockiness, that’s
too soft everywhere and
no curves, an abrasive
personality, and
uneven skin that’s pockmarked
with acne scars
