Sorrow and Joy
Warmth cannot exist without cold,
Pain without pleasure,
Life without death,
Laughter without tears,
Hope without despair,
Night without day,
Light without darkness,
Good without evil.
And so it is with sorrow and joy:
One cannot be truly happy
Without first knowing deepest sorrow.
For in order to love what we have
We must suffer through life without it.
It is sorrow that holds the key to finding joy.
