April
April was a young girl
Had just turned twelve the other day
Loved her parents dearly
Loved them in every way
It was then just yesterday
Her dad was not at home
She found out he had been sent away
And drafted to the war
She didn't understand at first
She did though start to cry
Till her mother held her close to her
And explained everything and why
It was then just five months later
The phone rang in the hall
She went down the hall to answer
Wondering who would call
She cried when she heard that gentle voice
And tears fell on the phone
She then was fully filled with joy
Her dad was coming home
