Leave the bruises
black and blue
Let the scars run deep

Peel the scabs off
one by one
Let your exposed heart bleed

Forget the inscriptions
on the grave
6 ft^3 of a home


The author's comments:
Inspired by a story about a greedy man-
the moral of the story was: all the land a man ever needs is enough land to fit his grave into.
My poem, on the other hand, can be (and was meant to be) interpreted differently.
