My heart beats a rhythm that calls out for you,
My eyes jump around continually hoping for a glimpse of your face,
The tone of my voice is that of one who has lost something she never had.
My hands are constantly weaving a path on which you will find your way into my life,
All my mind ever does is try to think like you would so we can have one common thought that will land us together.
Sometimes I hear a voice sweeter than music and I seek it out,
Sometimes my feet float on the pavement
And I'm sure they know where to find you.
Sometimes my nose gets a whiff of something sensational and I feel like sneezing,
But I never do.
Those are the times when I'm sure I've found you,
But all there ever is
Is nothing.
Just your shadow disappearing through the door,
A faint echo of your melodic voice.
I wonder if you are,
If you ever were.
But my hearts sings that as surely as the sun will rise in the morning, you will waltz into my life.
So I wait...

This poem was inspired by Britney Spears' song titled "Shadow". I do not usually write poems, but some things are best said in stanzas and not paragraphs.
