Have you ever noticed
That every war based video game
Takes place on foreign soil?
Have you ever noticed that the soldiers
You are pretending to murder
Are never white?

Have you ever noticed that sometimes
They aren’t even soldiers?
That you are shooting down
Men in tattered clothes
With guns forced into their trembling hands?

Have you ever noticed that your base
Is usually a burnt down town?
Have you ever wondered what happened
To the women and the children?
Have you ever thought about whether or not
People would continue to play
If they showed that part too?
Would you?

And if you asked any video game designer
About any of these things,
About a war game based in the United States,
They would say its still too soon,
That the American people cant handle
Those thoughts just yet,
That 9/11 was just over ten years ago,
That our nation is still healing and grieving

But the truth is, it wouldn’t sell,
People would not pay to see Florida leveled,
They would not enjoy running around
In the ruins of California,
They wouldn’t pay to see the White House burn,
People would wonder where their
Women and children went

People would start regretting their choice
To take out their frustrations
Through a digital gun
If the soldier wore an American uniform,
They might start seeing their mindless killing
As the massacres they really are,
People might start feeling guilty,
And we cant have that, can we?
Because war is supposed to make you money,
