Summer Days MAG
Squeezed sweat from my
Bones and dripped it onto the
Lazy summer sidewalks.
Flies that would normally
Fall into pools of juice lingering in
Watermelon shells only hummed
under the leaves of the great oak tree.
Summer days
Squeezed sweat from my
Bones and dripped it onto the
Lazy summer sidewalks.
Flies that would normally
Fall into pools of juice lingering in
Watermelon shells only hummed
under the leaves of the great oak tree.
Those sweat-covered sidewalks melted
And mixed with driveways to form
hot chocolate pools.
Bumblebees dipped down into
the sweetness
Before sinking their stingers into
the unaware.

Children
Leapt
Danced
Dove
Jumped
Headfirst into chlorine-infested pools
Full of dead bugs searching for escape
From the summer oven.
Teenagers had love affairs in the tall grass,
Walking barefoot in ankle-brushing fields.
Palm to palm and lip to lip, they wandered in between cricket sounds.
Summer dusk fell over
Treetops and sky-reaching buildings.
Winking stars and blinking fireflies
Existed everywhere.
