A coward is incapable of exhibiting love; it is the prerogative of the brave.
By Gandhi.

They wanted to know why I was alive

tormented by chaos and twisted lies

corrupted by fate, betrayals, and storms without end.

They wanted to understand my thoughts

to comprehend the horrors that I saw

to visualize my universe tainted by the dark north wind

They wanted to enclose me in barriers without end

to protect me from myself

and others from myself

words like "crazy" and "unstable"

tumbled and fought for room on the screen of my awareness

Yet in all their confusion

they did not know that I could not hurt a fly

because the pain in my soul was far too bright

for me to possibly attempt to shift it to another.

Darkness looks for one victim

each to its own

and seeks no other.

We are not psychopaths, or murderers,

not monsters of the deep or air

we are just those infected by darkness

and whether we choose to live or die is our burden to bear

Give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he'll eat for a lifetime (Pardon my memory if the grammar is incorrect)

I'm still trying to understand the word "they" in  your poem :)... but all in all, your choice of words makes the poem very powerful, and the title actually attracts me.
