"You cannot dream yourself into a character; you must hammer and forge yourself into one." - Henry D. Thoreau

There’s a mischievous angel,
Way up in the Big Blue,
Who is dearly loved and missed,
Because he was taken all too soon.

Although his family down below,
May cry and scream, and mourn,
This little angel up above,
Is smiling, no frown or scorn.

He’s living life so bright and bold,
The only way angels can live.
In order to get this way today,
His life he did have to give.

But while he is in Heaven,
He still has much to do,
Tricks to play, pranks to run
And many angels to fool.

So when something in life goes astray,
Or is tilted at a weird angle,
Remember the words and lime green wings,
Of our mischievious angel.

The author's comments:
This poem was written about a boy only years younger then me who died in a car accident on June 12, 2012. His death devastated my whole small-town community. When people read this, I hope they remember how short life can be, but also to be comforted by the fact that there is life after death.
