Keeping Me Down
The best reaction is no reaction
So when they are throwing their fist and feet at me, I don't cry, I don't scream or beg for their mercy
I stand there taking every bit I can before I fall down to the ground
The best reaction is no reaction
But when they are canon balling their words I am weak
They call me dumb and I am starting to believe them because I don't know what smart is
They say I'm not good enough and I'm not sure because I have worn these shoes every day for the last year
If the best reaction is no reaction
Why do they want one?
Why do they hurt me to get one?
Don't they know when I am crying it feels like a ball is stuck in my throat and the tears running down my face feel like salt making scars that only time can heal
If the best reaction is no reaction why am I born to react
