My restless cousin thought I persevered.
That exemplifies my childhood.

For months, I walked with tears running down my face.
This friendless time wasn't appropriate.
Caught, I yearned for the unknown.
I wondered how life provides forces that explore the power of will,
The beginning of everything,
The connection between time, love.

Challenges broaden youth,
Empower the adolescent.
After growing up,
The importance of personal growth becomes powerful.
I found great satisfaction by stepping into the unknown.

This type of poem is called a blackout poem. You take an article or an excerpt of work and, upon first glance without reading the piece all the way through, you black out the words you don't need and leave certain words in order to make a poem with the words that remain (in order). In this case, I blacked out an article called "Real Life Lessons from Real Life DoGooders: Step Through the Uncomfortable and Into the Unknown" written by Marc Ozburn for the Huffington Post.
