Nightmares

I wake up in such a fright,
Chilly in the cold of night,
My mind can’t comprehend,
When the nightmare will end.
I wish I could run away,
But my mind makes me stay,
There’s no hope I’m overtaken,
And then… I awaken.
My nightmare gets worse every night,
I swear I won’t feel right,
Till this torture will end,
For relief will be a godsend.
