As he stared into his cup
he realized there wasn’t much left to his life
as he drank he thought of ways to end his pain
and then his phone rang
coincidentally when he picked up
he heard the voice of the same girl who ruined his life in the first place
she was calling because she was sorry and wanted to try again
his response was that he would have to call her back
then he hung up the phone
and he smiled as he took another sip from his cup
