Remember
Like a fiery flower it blooms red across a blue background
Spreading outwards reaching for the beyond
Pain spreads through
Moisture leaks out
Fallen to his knees a face looks upward
Crying outward he remembers his family
He remembers the cows in the early morning
He remembers the morning dew drip across his feet
He remembers a tender kiss given by his first love
He remembers a comfortable fire in the winter time
And he remembers his cause as he slumps to the ground
The smell of dirt fills his nostrils as he lays there
For the Union he remembers
The Union is the cause
And for the Union he will die
As a soldier he will be remembered
