Song of the Sea
I gaze into a sea of mirrors
And see a world of color and light
Here, there is soundless wonder and delight
I am the alien in this universe
The dark shadow that makes the fish
Scurry into their crazy coral houses
For I am the predator
And they are my prey
My lips smack
I can already taste the spicy tuna roll
I shall make of that little fishy over there
Here fishy, fishy, fishy…
But the sea is empty
Only ghosts live here now
And the skeleton of a dead coral reef
That once was
I hear the song of the sea
Faint and broken
It limps into my ear
Whispering my crime
