Change in my life
Just a fight.
That’s all it was.
I went for a drive,
But didn’t tell you
You didn’t know were I went
I just left.
It was just a fight.
That’s all it was
You came to look for me.
I was the only thing on your mind.
I came back later in the night,
But you weren’t here
I didn’t know where you were.
It was just a fight
That’s all it was.
I sat in the dark
Waiting for you to come back.
A shrill ringing broke the silence
Who would be calling this time of night?
It was just a fight
That’s all it was.
I pick up the phone
“There has been an accident”
I am told.
I drop the phone and race to the hospital
It was just a fight
That’s all it was
I see you laying there
Tubes and wires everywhere
I reach for your hand
And start to cry
It was just a fight
That’s all it was
But in your haste
To try and find me
You didn’t notice the car in your lane
Coming straight for you
It was just a fight
That’s all it was
Never got to tell you
The one thing I wanted to most
I’m sorry I left
I’m sorry he was drinking
It wasn’t just a fight.
It was a change in my life
And just so you know
I love you.
