Shards of truth are all that’s left;

Broken gems that sparkled like your b****** smile.
I used to stand here, all alone in the winter air, waiting for you, but you never come.
I used to send selfish prayers to a god who I had never put my faith into asking that he would make you return.
I used to stand outside your apartment building waiting for you to return, but you were too busy walking down a dark, destructive path.
I used to dig through your trash for clues;

Smashing bottles, syringes, and cigarette butts beneath my heel.
I used to think I could take the shards of your sanity and put them into place, but the puzzle was far too big for me to cover alone.
I used to hold stale memories in my head to hold pieces of you in my head yearning to repair what you and I used to be.
I used to think I could take your broken mind and use our love to place the gears back into place, but now all I see are shattered memories.
Today, I see that you are just a shattered soul and I don’t want to be rude, but I hope you stay shattered too.
