A pound of mousse in your hair
scrunched curls play with your breasts.
Skin tight, butt length red dress
Hide the areas underneath

You wobble out,
in 10 inch heels
to your Lamborghini
Skin glowing with a canned tan

Complimenting your colored contact eyes
while theirs stray to that
18 inch Tiffany necklace.

He touches your face,
you're loved
Kissed goodnight.

A snow globe
sits next to your parents
postcard. The soiled signature:
Love Mom and Dad

The author's comments:
Originally this poem was written to try and create beauty out of disgust, but it took on a sarcastic tone. During revisions I decided to exaggerate this self-hatred the character had, and it became more about regret than the original.
