Sometimes when I close my eyes
I imagine possibilities
I remember things from long ago
And hope that they'll stay with me
I hope and pray and wish and think
that someday I will find
The happiness I've dreamt of,
The light to which

I'm blind.

We all are blind to something
Until we try to see
The alternative to what we think
What we've learned, what we believe
We let our pride take over
And cast the truth aside
'Cause we choose to live selfishly
It makes us content
So to the truth

we're blind

We can't force someone to love us,
We can't turn a switch on and be happy
We can't laugh when we are crying
We simply cannot accept
what we don't see.

We're blind to those that care for us,
Because we're chasing those that don't
We don't realize how well off we are,
Because we're focused
On problems of our own.

We're blind to faults of those
Of whom we care for deeply
We'll push aside all problems
Just so we can be happy
We hold on to what hurts us
Because we can't allow our minds
To realize that we create our happiness,
Who we are.
To our own capabilities, we're blind.

Sometimes when I close my eyes,
I imagine possibilities
I remember things from long ago
And hope that they'll stay with me
I hope and pray and wish and think
That someday I will find
The happiness I've dreamt of,
the light to which I'm blind.
