Green and gold bring to mind the colors of spring
the light minty green of early buds,
and the undersides of the newly sprouted leaves.
The color of fresh, the color of clean, of new, of reborn.
The deep golden rays, shining down, struggling
to breakthrough the wintry clouds,
thawing the long frozen dirt,
warming the newly awakened animals.

While they are two different things,
they are interminably tied to each other.
Gold brings the beginnings of life:
The green sprouts, reaching up
to meet the warm
golden,
fingers trickling down to earth.
After its long absence gold returns bringing with it
new life,
a sense of rebirth,
a sense of new beginnings,
and the long awaited happiness
that breaks through the cold.

The green and gold make you young children feverish,
afflicted with the appropriately named
spring fever,
they run from their desks
entering the buzzing,
colorful,
fresh,
world of spring.
