The Shot
A loud noise fills my ears.
A split second flash is in front of me.
My eyes shut from the fear.
It feels like an hour but really, it’s only a second.
My legs wiggle like jelly.
So unstable.
The man lying on the ground in front of me is in more pain than I.
It seems like it is the other way around.
I can’t get passed my fear.
I struggle stand. I fall the floor.
I hit the cold dry asphalt hard.
I’m still awake.
I can’t keep going. I stand up.
I feel so weak.
A tear screams down my face.
“What have I done?” I say.
“What have I done?”
