The pursuit of life
Look into the mirror
And hoping to see a reflection
Hoping that somewhere on the lines of cracked glass
are life
Mirror, once so smooth
then had to deal with my desire
of wanting to breathe again
then feeling my anger
when I saw my face
Yes, there was a reflection
Yes, it was living
but on the brink of death
Close to a black pit of despair
but not quite
because I want to live again
Bags under my eyes
Cracked lips that look like they don’t know how to talk
Hair that looks like they haven’t seen a comb in years
Make up all washed off
Is it too much to ask for?
To want to breathe again
because I let everyone see
my dead
