You may not enjoy watching
sunsets, dancing, or flowers,
but your face shines bright in my memories,
your presence makes my hear skip,
and your aroma makes me weak in the knees.

You may not prefer such things
as chocolates and poems
but your actions are sweet
and your words have a rhythm of their own.

You are a unique one,
but the fact that you are one of a kind
makes it all the more special
that you are mine.

The author's comments:
I was inspired to write this piece after reading "My Mistress' Eye" by William Shakespeare. It reminded me that the truest love is love that triumphs over imperfection. I wanted to recreate this message in a more modern day poem. Instead of focusing on physical features I decided to focus more on the modern day cliches of teenage relationships.
