Teenage Years

Getting older
Growing up fast
Wishing all good times
Could forever last.

Falling in love
Crying over a broken heart
Making wrong decisions
Not thinking smart.

Going to parties inviting over friends
Setting it straight with enemies
Making amends.

Closing out the parents
Putting up with drama
Sneaking out at night
And lying to your momma.

Girls with fashion belts
Boys with cars
Late night walks
And picnics under the stars.

Clothes all over
Can’t decide to wear
Wanting something fabulous
That’ll make guys stop to stare.

Talking about last night’s game
And the score
The part this weekend
And the ligament a player tore.

Worrying about the future
And what someone else said
Stressed about the past
Instead of getting ahead.

Finding out things
That you never knew
Hoping it’s your dreams
You pursue.

Looking deep down
To find yourself
Realizing the fact
You have a lot left.

Recognizing,
Who your real friends are
Taking it slow
Not letting it get too far.

Learning life
Being wise
Know you are
A blessing in disguise.

Growing up,
Facing fears
Is all apart
Of teenage years.
