Footsteps
As I walk on the heavily treaded road,
Leaving my footsteps among a pile of strangers
I notice that soon,
That pile
Falls apart.
Each rainbow colored step creating a path.
It’s almost time for me.
But,
Do I climb the screeching mountain
Breaking from loneliness,
With the effort of a tiger facing its prey?
Or do I follow the delicate breeze,
Sweeping through the world
Traveling different paths?
Maybe just follow the footsteps.
They knew where they were going.
I don’t.
But for now I’ll close my eyes
Enjoy the dirt scuffing at my feet.
And remember,
I’m not there yet.
