- What Matters
No, nothing ever goes my way.
No one ever seems to say
Things should have gone different that day.
It’s gonna be me against the world
And I can’t say what’s gonna happen
But it can’t be as bad as this has been.
It’s like I’m drowning in my own sorrow
Bringing back the days, begging for time to borrow.
I’m so done with all this bull s***. I’m so full of it.
I gasp for breath, flailing arms grabbing at air
But my heart drops when I realize that nothing’s there.
Hello cruel world, I’ve taken your disgrace
And turned it into my own hard embrace.
I’m like the canary in the coalmines,
Making the sacrifice, only to be a body no one finds.
The lost, the forgotten, the hurt, the broken,
They know what its like to be cast aside and frowned upon.
We all try to fly. Some of us make it. Some of us just crash and die.
Well this is my time to back away and say so long.
I’ll take my bow, leave the stage and be long gone.
