Luck Be a Lady

Cream-coloured gloves and
teeth of pearly white.
Her ears, dressed
in the finest glittering light.
Eyes of sapphire,
luscious lips of ruby.
She plays her cards just right,
and she knows just what to be.
Donning the dress
with the deepest decolletage,
she comes like a dream
and leaves like a mirage.
The young men in tuxedos
fight for her hand,
but she politely declines,
flashing her wedding band.
But she belongs to no one;
she arrives and she leaves.
Won all the chips,
through the crowded casino she weaves.
I watch her step into the limo,
watch it coast out of sight.
Oh, certainly,
luck be a lady tonight.
