There’s something oddly captivating
about the world after twilight
and the tendency of the stars
to shimmer when we least expect it
on Ferris Wheels and lullaby lakes
as passer-bys on sidewalks turn
kiss each other another goodnight
before parting ways and drifting off
to separate cabs beneath separate streetlights.
And as the world blurs through window panes,
we’ll think of life as it used to be
through sweet conquest, free liberty.
It’s been nature’s gift
to take us gently by the hand
and lead us on a hopeless heart’s whim
to wake up, eyes tight closed, in bliss.
