Painful Love

Wonderful seams of ache
Rupture in your wake
As torrential pain disintegrates
What we made.

Desolate, wretched dread,
Taints our love
Like the thrust of a dagger
As it vanquishes its victim,
Magnified and signified,
Heightened and strengthened,
Until your shadow is so imprinted on my soul
That I collapse in agony.

Your heart is as black as coal,
Darker than an abyss of nothing.
Your eyes are an onyx of fire
As they blaze with unwritten certainty
And swing the axe that will inevitably
Result in solid burgundy.

Silence.
Fathomless like the void that is your heart
Stretches between the vast interval of space
Between us
And I submit to the impending terror
That crashes over me like a tidal wave
And transfers me to the depths of despair.

Life without you is unimaginable;
Insipid like tea without sweet sugar
And frosty snow without winter.

But I shall bear the hurt
You have inflicted upon my tender wounds
And hold my head high
Like all the others who have burned
In your raging flames
And have survived your lying tales.

This is painful love.
