A moment of inattention
A second held in suspension
Solid metal shatters--
Like a delicate porcelain doll
Threateningly beautiful on bare skin
What is wrong here?
Everything I hold dear
Spinning in slow motion--
Just out of reach
Rendered unconscious...
Complete loss of speech
The word "wreck" comes to mind
A second embedded in time
The wheel spins, tires shriek--
Invincible meets reality
Is this really happening?
Colorful swirls in the dark
Desperate hands check for marks
Phones are ready, whipped to hand
Until that moment
I didn't understand
