"For a Day"
Yours look nice, with their shiny black gloss
but I feel more at home with mine.
With their worn in feel and scuffs,
each scuff holding a prized memory.
I’m not sure where yours have been,
or if they smell.
For all I know they could smell bad,
really, really, really bad.
Every click, clack, click, clack,
reminds me of adventures with friends.
Our sizes are similar but,
they’re just not quite the same.
Walking in your shoes for a day
Would mean losing a day in my own.
