Love Me
I pretend that I don't notice you
I try so hard not to stare
I close my eyes, I look away
Why?
Because I'm not supposed to think of you
Not supposed to wonder
Not supposed to dream of you
Not supposed to care
I hear your voice, deep and low, like a roll of distant thunder
I see your face, strikingly strong and handsome, like a flash of
midnight lightning
Your wavy light brown hair, the sharp angles of your cheekbones
The curve of your nose, the fullness of your lips
Your gorgeous almond brown eyes, your long, dark lashes
All these things I see and love, all these things I notice
I know you'd never think of me, never consider what I see in you
You look at me and see right through me
I look at you and see a possible future
I see a boy, strong and handsome, quickly becoming a man
I see a willing learner, a capable fighter, and so very much more
You see not me, but the wall behind me
Look closer, give a chance
I can love you right if you'll let me try
Test me, try me, prove me true
Love me, that's all I ask of you
